Summary:
FHU is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic planner with demonstrated success in multimodal transportation planning in urban and rural settings. This planner will work on regional, statewide, city, corridor, and sub-area transportation plans; feasibility studies; transit plans; bicycle/pedestrian plans; and research projects. This position offers exciting project management and technical responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages small to mid-size transportation planning projects by scheduling work and adhering to approved budget.
- Manages and assists in transportation plan development; analyzes demographic and transportation data, develops project goals and objectives, assesses transportation improvement needs, evaluates improvement alternatives, and develops recommendations and implementation plans.
- Utilizes data/analysis tools such as GIS to evaluate bicycle, pedestrian, transit, and street networks to identify mobility and safety enhancements.
- Manages junior staff and collaborates with team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Prepares and/or supports development of a variety of planning documents including plan reports, technical memoranda, correspondence, and outreach and engagement materials.
- Supports business development efforts; leads and supports proposal development and interviews.
- Participates in and facilitates discussions and presentations with clients, technical group, stakeholder, focus group, as well as the public.
- Plans and executes public engagement activities, including but not limited to, public meetings, virtual meetings, public information content development, engagement metric tracking and reporting.
- Write grant applications and develop a working knowledge of funding sources for transportation projects and processes.
- Uses excellent written communication skills to develop high-quality, easy to read reports for clients.
- Reviews the work of other planners and team members in a quality review capacity as needed.
- Works collaboratively on larger multi-discipline transportation projects in a team environment.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of experience in multimodal transportation planning or engineering
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field; with a
concentration in Transportation is preferred. - Working knowledge of ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Certificates, licenses, registrations: AICP certification and/or Professional Engineer licensure or active pursuit of Professional Engineer license in Utah is desirable.
- Working knowledge of data analytics tools including Tableau, SQL, Excel or Python; data visualization a plus.

The pay for this position has a range of $80,000 - $115,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
