Felton’s Senior Division specializes in a full continuum of mental health services for older adults in outpatient clinics, the community, and supportive housing sites, as well as programs in employment training, economic security, case management, advocacy, and social connection and inclusion.
Ombudsman Program
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman provides visiting advocacy to residents of nursing homes, assisted living, and board and care facilities, using a complaint management approach. The Ombudsman Program is National and local and is authorized by Federal and State Law. Its mission is to seek resolutions of problems and advocate for the rights, of residents in long-term care facilities, to ensure the quality of care and quality of life and dignity and respect, by and respect, by listening to families or residents and carrying out their wishes. Ombudsman Services are free and confidential. The Ombudsman Program responds to abuse reports and complaints that may affect residents’ health, safety, rights and welfare

Job Description
This Ombudsman's Bilingual role is to visit facilities both skilled nursing and assisted living where reside monolingual Cantonese-speaking residents, for the purpose of advocating for their needs and wishes as well as investigate allegations of abuse or violations of rights.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct visits to facilities where reside monolingual Cantonese-speaking residents
- Act as liaison in transfer /discharge cases where a resident is sent home without input on the plan of care and discharge.
- Work with families of monolingual residents, and where possible support family councils
- Provide leadership and support to other Asian ombudsmen who speak Cantonese or Mandarin
- Attend with consent, care meetings held for residents
- Assist in arranging Community Outreach to the various neighborhoods where a preponderance of Cantonese speakers reside.
- Assist Ombudsman leadership in excel driven data reports
- Enter all cases and activities in ODIN- the Ombudsman data system.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
- Background in Cultural Diversity Experience in various Microsoft platforms
- Excellent communication and organizing skills Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of other connecting agencies and services in San Francisco
- Education: BA, BS or MS
- Related experience working in the Chinese community

Salary Range: $68,000 - $80,000 Annually (DOE)
