Operator - HPC

**This position has potential for career progression through 3 levels.

Principal Accountabilities:  (The job’s essential or most important functions and responsibilities.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)

 Level 1 Operator:

·    Produces belt and belt segments by operating punch presses and punch and assembly machines; making various adjustments to machines to meet quality criteria.

·    Inspects various types and sizes of drive belts by operating one of two motorized inspection stations; moving belts slowly through machine to visually inspect for defects; setting up and maintaining ink jet printer.

·    Packages various types and sizes of drive belts by setting up semi-automatic coiling machines for proper size belt and footage; feeding finished link type V belt into semi-automatic coiling machines; accurately disassembling belt at specified footage; properly labeling, stamping and identifying each finished package.

·    Maintains quality standards by monitoring product for appearance and appropriate specifications; utilizing the appropriate product mylar as required to ensure specifications are met; utilizing calipers as required to ensure specifications are met; performing required quality checks and recording quality information on the work order; making equipment adjustments; following appropriate work instructions; reporting quality problems to engineering and supervision.

·    Willingly supports the team in all efforts towards continuous improvement.

·    Can restring the stretching equipment.

·    Supports the department by performing other tasks of equal to or lesser job grades as required. 

·    Maintain and Promote Fenner Precison Polymers Values and Behaviors at all times.

 Level 2 Operator:

·    Sets-up or changes various punch and assembly lines to process various size Powertwist or Nu-t style belts.

·    Visually inspects drive belts for defects utilizing motorized inspection stations.

·    Sets up and maintains ink jet printer.

·    Sets up and operates the ground round equipment.

·    Packages drive belts by setting up automatic and semi-automatic coiling machines for proper size belt and footage, accurately disassembling belt at specified footage; properly labeling, stamping and identifying each finished package.

·    Maintains quality standards by monitoring product for appearance and ensuring appropriate specifications are met; utilizes the appropriate product print and calipers as required.

·    Records quality information on the work order as required and reports any quality problems to engineering and supervision.

·    With assistance loads rotary let off tables with slit cast roll strips, inspects strips, and marks defects found.

·    Splits belts to final width using various splitting machines.

·    Operates punch presses, riveting operations and assembly/stretch machines.

·    Maintains machines and makes various adjustments as needed to meet quality criteria.

·    Monitors and maintains machine sensors where required.

·    Verifies materials using specification sheets.

·    Performs statistical audits for link centering; charts data.

·    Performs visual inspection of cast strips surface finish.

·    Follows written procedures.

·    Reports quality and processing problems to supervisor.

·    Maintains a clean work area.

·    Supports Continuous Improvement and the Lean initiative.

·    Operates all rivet and assembly operations and uses the proper techniques learned to trouble shoot and correct jams safely.

·    Restrings belt towers, stretchers and trimmers.

·    Works in a safe manner and makes safety improvement recommendations.

·    Uses stop line authority and seeks help as needed.

·    Ability to restring the stretching equipment.

·    Supports the department by performing other tasks of equal to or lesser job grades as required.

·    Maintain and Promote Fenner Precison Polymers Values and Behaviors at all times.

 Level 3 Operator:

·    Loads drums of materials in ovens and on rotators, prepares reinforcement fabric, colors, and other components for production use.

·    Operates mixing pots to produce a variety of different type mixes according to run specifications.

·    Sets up urethane application system and sets press operational conditions according to run specifications.

·    Operates casting machine while making various adjustments to meet quality and production criteria; uses micrometers and/or other gauges to establish and maintain quality requirements during the entire product run; cuts test samples for QA as required; sews on reinforcement rolls and maintains Teflon release belts as needed; operates and maintains flash trimming and automatic take-up reel equipment during the production run.

·    Unloads completed cast rolls and post cures same according to run specifications; moves finished goods to storage area; transports incoming raw materials from shipping dock and maintains Casting raw materials storage area.

·    Cleans machine, posts, and pumps of excess urethane at the end of the production run or as otherwise required.

·    Records processing information on Work Orders as required; disposes of processing scrap and records scrap information as required.

·    Keeps up to date on all ISO Work Instructions and signs off on same in a timely manner.

·    Makes accurate and timely entries on the JD Edwards shop floor control system.

·    Reports quality and processing problems to supervisor.

·    Follows written procedures and maintains a clean work area by completing the daily cleanup checklist.

·    Supports Continuous Improvement and the Lean Initiative.

·    Supports the department by performing other tasks of equal to or lesser job grades as required.

·    Maintain and Promote Fenner Precison Polymers Values and Behaviors at all times.

 

Environmental, Health & Safety Accountabilities:  (The level of safety accountability needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.

·    Learn and follow EHS policies, rules and work instructions

·    Attend required EHS training

·    Wear the required PPE at all times

·    Take personal responsibility for keeping yourself and your co-workers and visitors free from injury by participating in and/or conducting risk assessments, work place inspections, corrective actions and safety observations

·    Report incidents, near miss, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other hazards in the work place. STOP WORK when imminent danger is present

·    Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion and keep equipment in proper working condition.

 

 Education and/or Relative Experience:  (The level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job.)

 Level 1 Operator:

·    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

·    Minimum 3 months related experience and/or training

·    Equivalent combination of education and experience

Level 2 Operator:

·    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

·    Minimum 1 year related experience

Level 3 Operator:

·    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

·    Minimum 3 years related experience
