Fenwick High School is a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school. Founded in 1929 by the Dominican Friars, this private school of over 100 faculty and staff is dedicated to empowering our students to grow intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically in a disciplined and diverse environment. The school offers a rigorous academic program, including college prep, honors and AP coursework, as well as a variety of clubs, athletics and service opportunities.
Fenwick High School is seeking a full-time Physical Education and Health Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-26 school year.
The Physical Education and Health Teacher supports the health and well-being of Fenwick students by teaching Physical Education and Health classes. This is a full-time faculty position that includes five (5) classes and one (1) supervision period daily. As a member of Fenwick’s faculty, the Physical Education and Health Teacher supports Fenwick’s mission to educate and empower students to lead, achieve, and serve.
Schedule:
Faculty are generally expected to be present in the building from 7:45 a.m. - 3:25 p.m., Mondays - Fridays, unless approved by the Principal.
Job Function:
Understand curriculum expectations; prepare for all classes. In P.E. classes, instruct and lead fitness and athletic activities effectively for students of a range of skill levels and abilities, promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, physical health, and wellness.
In collaboration with colleagues in the Health and Physical Education Department, coordinate logistics for student class activities, including maintaining athletic equipment and gymnasium spaces.
Provide constructive feedback during class activities, as well as consistent, fair, and timely grading of student learning activities and assessments aligned with course curricular and instructional goals.
Demonstrate professionalism as a teacher and ensure appropriate supervision, including by being on time to all classes and not leaving students unattended; dress and act appropriately in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
Collaborate with colleagues in instructional practice, and seek continuous professional growth.
Support students’ success by communicating effectively with students, parents and guardians, including by keeping Schoology and other systems updated every two weeks at a minimum, corresponding via email, and attending other school events as required.
Promptly attend all required meetings, professional development days, and school assemblies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred.)
Prior experience as a physical education teacher and/or prior coaching experience required. High school teaching experience is preferred.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Must be willing to complete certification requirements before the start of the school year if hired.
Must be able to lead active physical activities and sports, to lift and move athletic equipment, and to demonstrate proper techniques for physical education activities.
Ability to use technology in instruction and for student learning; familiarity with 1:1 iPad use in the classroom a plus.
Commitment to student growth
Preferred experience or knowledge in the Catholic faith.
