CMM Operator / Inspector
Job Description: CMM Inspector is responsible for the operation of the CMM machine to ensure conformance on precision aerospace components. They will also use visual and dimensional inspection per applicable customer specifications to inspect parts using fixed or variable measuring instruments checking for irregularities and defects. Must be able to work from complex and detailed blueprints and/or verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Performs CMM, visual, and dimensional inspection for receiving, in-process, and final inspection of both parts and processes to company specifications and customer expectations in a manner consistent with the company's quality and productivity standards.
- Ensures dimensional integrity of CMM/Dimensional outputs.
- Ability to troubleshoot/correct CMM errors.
- Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, tests and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component. Includes incoming inspection, annual layouts, gage/set master calibrations, first/last piece inspection, etc.
- Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities.
- Ability to work with ERP system (EPICOR) to process parts through the system.
- Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, along with a willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts), to move to other lines and departments to fill company needs, and to learn and improve own skills.
- Follows all safety guidelines and wears all Personal Protective Equipment.
- Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned by Group Leader or any other member of the leadership team
- All of these objectives must be carried out in a safe and appropriate manner while maintaining an acceptable level of quality and efficiency.
Other Skills and Requirements
- Ability to read and understand blue prints, plots, mylars, gauges, and work instructions.
- Capable of performing dimensional part inspections using standard gaging such as Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gages, etc., and Surface Plate Layout techniques.
- Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T) as per ASME Y14.5.
- Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, including working with decimals, statistics, and strong mechanical aptitude
- Should be creative and be able to brainstorm and implement ideas
- Must be able to work required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods
- Able to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality.
- Demonstrate reliability and good attendance.
- Demonstrate ability to work and communicate with co-workers and leadership
Experience/Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience CMM programming/operating
- Must have Quality Inspection experience
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with Mitutoyo MCOSMOS Software
Physical Demands
- Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on a daily basis
- Able to bend, twist, turn, carry, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, etc
- Able to successfully pass vision screens
- Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects including weekends.
Schedule
- Monday – Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm
- OT possible on Friday
