For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership, and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. Under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator and Food Program Director, this position fills out order forms, prepares and serves healthy meals to the staff and campers at the camp. They are responsible for the organization and cleaning of the kitchen.
- Ensures that the American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed.
- Cleans and cares for the kitchen and dining hall.
- Prepares menu and the daily or weekly supply lists.
- Brings in deliveries and maintains inventory.
- Maintains a daily count report for all meals served.
- Keeps required records of food delivery and consumption.
- Meets and maintains appropriate health standards.
- Follows established work schedule
- Is a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior. Follows and upholds all safety, security rules and procedures.
- Sets a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule and sportsmanship.
- Completes end of season evaluation
- Completes the CACFP (Child Care Food Program) requirements
- Cleans, organizes and stores all equipment prior to the weekends and the end of the season.
Requirements
1. At least 21 years of age
2. 1 year of cooking experience
3. 6 months experience working with youth
4. CPR Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant
5. First Aid Certification
6. Current driver's license and YMCA insurance approved driving record
7. Serv Safe / MN Kitchen Manager Certification
