For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership, and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. Under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator, this position is responsible for the Camp Cormorant Ropes Course program for campers including instructions and safety of participants.
- Ensures that the American Camping Association (ACA) Standards are followed
- Organizes, supervises and plans ropes course programs and lesson plans to the appropriate ages, interests and abilities of the campers.
- Sets up, takes down, maintains and properly stores all necessary gear prior to and after each time the course is used.
- Establish and enforce clear safety guidelines for the program and instruct others in these regulations.
- Greets campers and parents upon arrival
- Supervises campers in restrooms / showers / cabins 3 times per week
- Attends meetings and actively participates in all activities.
- Is a role model to campers and staff in attitude and behavior. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures. Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule and sportsmanship.
- Assists with evening programs, campfire, leading songs; leads one evening per week.
- Cleans, organizes and stores all equipment prior to the weekend and at the end of the season.
- Assists in other areas of camp as needed.
- Completes end of season evaluation
Requirements
1. At least 16 years old
2. 6 months experience working with youth
3. CPR / FA Certification for Adult, Child and Infant
