Self-Storage General Manager
Fern Ridge Self Storage, a locally owned and operated self-storage company, is seeking to fill a General Manager (GM) position (Tuesday through Saturday, 40 hours/week) in Veneta, Oregon. The GM is an energetic, professional, self-starter with exceptional management, sales and customer service skills. The GM works with other team members to manage overall operations, create a welcoming environment, address customer needs, and maintain the best self-storage facilities in the area.
The successful General Manager will:
- professionally manage day-to-day operations of self-storage facilities.
- work as part of the team to constantly provide exceptional customer service by greeting future and existing customers in a friendly and welcoming manner and remaining professional in all interactions.
- be self-motivated and able to manage day-to-day activities and long-term projects in coordination with ownership.
- enjoy working both indoors and outdoors. When not conducting office tasks, the successful GM candidate will spend time walking the properties and working with the team in completing the tasks required to provide our customers with the best environment to meet their storage needs.
- follow standardized procedures that provide customers with a uniform and predictable self-storage relationship.
Job duties include:
- Managing daily operations including opening/closing offices, accurately managing receipts, and submitting daily reports
- Managing staffing and work schedules
- Providing exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and by email
- Working with the team in showing, recommending, and renting appropriate self-storage spaces and selling related merchandise (moving supplies, locks, boxes, etc.)
- Assisting customers with the rental process and completing documents
- Problem solving and effectively addressing issues escalated from other team members
- Coordinating coverage for customer issues that occur outside normal business hours and participating with other team members in on-call rotation
- Promoting a safe and secure environment for employees and customers
- Maintaining customer files in accordance with company procedures
- Accepting payments and making bank deposits
- Conducting daily visual property inspections of facilities
- Keeping the property maintained, clean, and free of debris
- Coordinate vendors and other types of work projects in a timely and efficient manner
- Participating in collection activities, including calls on delinquent accounts and coordinating public sales
- Constantly perform at a high level without close supervision
- Other functional duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications:
- A High School diploma
- Sales experience working directly with customers
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
- Good computer skills utilizing Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Applications
- Commitment to paying close attention to details
- Ability to quickly learn new computer and other skills
- Ability to communicate effectively under a wide variety of situations
- Ability to comfortably stand and walk distances five hours per day
- Ability to infrequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 50 pounds
- Have satisfactory results from a pre-employment background check
