A kitchen helper cleans / sanitizes kitchen equipment, assists in food preparation / serving, and receives products into kitchen storage. They have knowledge of kitchen operations and of food storage guidelines.
Ways you will make a difference
- Preparing meal ingredients, which includes washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing ingredients.
- Unload food supplies from delivery trucks.
- Properly washing and drying all dishes, utensils, cooking instruments and cutting boards.
- Neatly putting away all utensils, cooking instruments, dishes, and cutting boards in their respective places.
- Removing garbage, replacing garbage bags, and washing garbage cans.
- Mopping and sweeping the kitchen areas as required.
- Storing ingredients and food items according to food safety standards
- Maintains storage areas in a neat and organized manner.
- Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques.
- Operates work fryer, oven, slicer, can opener, and other food processing equipment as needed.
- Prepares and serves food in accordance with standards of quality, quantity and food safety guidelines.
Skills that will make you successful
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills.
- Ability to effectively following instructions
- Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, stir, chop, slice, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.
- Prior experience in related food service positions preferred
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate is a plus.
- The ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- The ability to safely use kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Good time management skills
