Job Description
Ferrara/KME, a leading manufacturer of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles, offers a unique opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to join their team.
The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for the divisional product development, design, and documentation, working closely with cross-functional teams to meet company goals.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide innovative thought leadership on strategies to grow market share, increase profitability, and meet long-term business goals.
- Manage various engineering teams, including design, technical sales, aftersales support, project management, and production.
- Implement approved corporate policies and ensure managers and staff perform their duties and responsibilities.
- Plan and develop the department's operating and capital budgets and manage expenses to conform with budget.
- Implement best of breed engineering practices and methods as approved.
- Schedule divisional engineering projects and ensure efficient personnel utilization.
- Work with BU engineering leads to develop long and short-range plans.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement of products and processes to better serve customers and improve the overall profitability of the company.
- Maintain design adherence considering cost, operation, reliability, manufacturability, adjustment, assembly, weight, installation, clearances, serviceability, standardization, and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field with at least 10 years of experience in engineering leadership required.
- Master's degree in the relevant engineering field preferred.
- Excellent grasp of local and federal laws and regulations governing its engineering governance in public projects.
- Ability to effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably, and decide and act without having the total picture.
- Excellent organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Working Environment:
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40#'s without assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration while performing the duties of this job.
