Job Summary:
The position of the Receiving/Shipping Clerk is non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act and shall be entitled to overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 in any one work week.
The Receiving/Shipping Clerk shall be responsible for processing paperwork, reviewing paperwork, getting worksheets, labels and assisting a receiver to get products, and other miscellaneous administrative functions.
The Receiving/Shipping Clerk shall be accountable to, and supervised by, the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
- Receive phone calls from vendors and outside carriers daily for scheduled deliveries.
- Process paperwork from the receiver which includes worksheets, bill of ladings, and receiving reports for Accounts Payable.
- Schedule daily deliveries and pick-up appointments and report them to NJ Warehouse and Purchasing Department. Follow up on each report.
- Process each container received by Ferraro Foods. The process includes a review of paperwork, print worksheets, and labels and assign employees to unload it, and receive it.
- Process railcars received by Ferraro Foods - review paperwork, print worksheets, and labels, and assign employees to unload it, and receive it. Once received, enter the order for the release of the railcar.
- Review and report shortages or damages from containers and railcars.
- Download pick-ups, process paperwork, create labels, and assign a selector to have products ready for customers to pick-up from Ferraro Foods.
- Become familiar with mapping systems and software to effectively navigate and manage data.
- Prepare and send out reports to relevant stakeholders in a timely and organized manner.
- Backup Transportation Department as needed.
- Assist the Transportation Department in getting daily pick-up schedule reports and assign a route to get back hauls.
- Process and route invoices accurately to the appropriate departments or personnel for approval.
- Once the schedule is in place, confirm and schedule pick-up appointments by phone or email.
- Report to Purchasing missed pick-ups or issues related to it.
- Perform routine computer-based work including data entry, file management, and system updates.
- Backup Router’s position when needed to close routes, assigned special deliveries, door sheets, and reports for the day.
- Assist with any other tasks or projects as assigned by the supervisor to support team operations.

- Must be able to multi-task and handle a busy workload to meet strong deadlines.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent work-related experience.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
