APRN/PA - Long term Acute Care Pulmonary Medicine Job Description (Contractor Role with 3 years of experience)

We are seeking 2 Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistants whose experience is focused on pulmonary care and treatment of patients with lung disease or respiratory conditions such as asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, tuberculosis and lung cancer in acute and post acute care scenarios (hospitals and Nursing Homes).
Under the guidance of a supervising physician, this practitioner will assist with comprehensive medical assessments, ordering appropriate tests/procedures for diagnostic purposes, manage ventilators, establish treatment plans, and obtain specialists' consultations, as needed.
This role encompasses patient evaluations relating to respiratory illnesses or disorders. Our ideal candidate has an in-depth understanding of the respiratory system anatomy and physiology, keen assessment and monitoring skills, vast knowledge of pulmonary diseases and conditions, and is vigilant about ongoing education related to recommended respiratory treatment options.
Essential Abilities:
- Patient Care and Treatment:
- Manage and treat a range of pulmonary diseases.
- Provide oxygen therapy and develop individualized respiratory treatment plans.
- Operate and manage mechanical ventilators, including efforts to wean patients off the ventilator.
- Assess patients' readiness for tracheostomy decannulation.
- Review and evaluate medical records for all new admissions.
- Conduct thorough assessments during rapid responses and handle cardiac and respiratory arrests.
- Answering service response calls.
- Order of appropriate diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests and/or interpretation of results.
- Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in provision of continuity of care.
- Administration of therapeutic procedures, as needed.
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures:
- Order and interpret lab tests and diagnostic imaging.
- Diagnose and treat illnesses based on clinical evaluations.
- Take comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations.
- Prescribe appropriate medications based on diagnoses and patient needs.
- Emergency Management:
- Handle all emergency situations promptly and effectively.
- Ensure swift and accurate intervention in critical scenarios.
Qualifications:
- Current, valid Florida APRN license Certification through the ANCC, AANP (or equivalent certification body)
- Must be able to commit to working 12 hours night shifts, between the hours of 5 pm-5am, weekends included.
- BCLS certification and ACLS required
- Experience in ICU and anesthesia backgrounds
- Proven experience in managing complex pulmonary conditions and performing emergency interventions.
- Proficiency in operating mechanical ventilators and managing oxygen therapy.
- Strong skills in diagnostic interpretation and patient management.

- Expected hours: 10-12 shifts a month (night shifts 5 pm to 5 am - Kindred West Kendall - HCAS), available to work Monday to Sunday
