Ferretti Search is excited to partner with a growing precision metal forming company in the greater Indianapolis area to find a Cold Forming Engineer to join their team. This is a high-impact opportunity to work hands-on with custom components, designing and optimizing processes for deep impact extrusion and cold heading operations.
Location: Northwest Indiana / Boone County area
Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 base salary (up to $110K for the right candidate) discretionary annual bonus that typically pays between 10-15%.

What will your day look like?
- Develop tooling and cold forming processes using advanced methods like progressive cold heading and deep impact extrusion.
- Collaborate with machinists, operators, and cross-functional departments to prototype, test, and validate tooling.
- Review blueprints and engineering specs to design and refine metal shaping processes using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Analyze and improve processes to optimize material use, reduce waste, and enhance throughput across the plant floor.
Who are you?
- Engineering Background: You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experienced Metal Mover: You have at least 5 years of experience in cold heading, cold forming, or deep impact extrusion—ideally with aluminum or copper.
- Hands-On Designer: Proficient with CAD, GD&T, and standard inspection methods. You’ve worked with tool rooms, built dies, and understand how to bring a 2D drawing to life.
- Bonus Points For: ERP/MRP experience, APQP exposure, or experience in post-forming processes like thread rolling or machining.
