Summary of Position: * The Mathematics Department seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor to teach math courses, engage in relevant scholarship, guide undergraduate projects, work with faculty to implement recent curricular and instructional reforms, and support retention.
* Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses.
The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
* The start date of this position will be August 2025.

Required Education: * PhD in Mathematics OR PhD in Mathematics Education with master's level background in mathematics.
Required Work Experience: * Prior teaching experience.
* Potential for curricular and instructional innovation, interest in student recruitment, potential for guiding undergraduate projects.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: * Contribute to mathematics initiatives.
* Conduct scholarly activity related to the teaching and learning of mathematics or activity that builds on existing work in the candidate's area of inquiry in a way that supports departmental growth.
* Participate in initiatives that focus on retention.
* Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
* Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in university committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (i.e. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time).
* Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
* Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
* Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

(1) Detail experience in working with mathematics students at all levels;
(2) Describe instructional approach to teaching mathematics;
(3) Outline scholarship and professional development goals that align with growing expertise in the field and that have the potential to support undergraduate projects;
(4) Offer ideas for collaborating with faculty on initiatives and projects that lead to improved recruitment and retention and curricular/instructional innovation.
