Job Summary
As the Head Hockey Coach at Ferris State University, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of the Division 1 Varsity Hockey program. This includes recruiting, practice planning, student-athlete development, student athlete retention, monitoring of academic progress, assisting in promoting team and enhancing ticket sales, fundraising, summer camp, and dealing professionally with all media obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit strong leadership and professionalism in dealing with student-athletes, maintaining integrity beyond reproach, and fostering a motivating environment while operating a program with a high degree of discipline and accountability.
- Work collaboratively within the Athletic Department and campus community to develop and implement daily practice and game plans, supporting and monitoring student athletes' academic success.
- Supervise Assistant Coaches, conduct programs with honesty and integrity per NCAA and CCHA rules, and work with Strength and Conditioning Coach to monitor individual player and team success.
- Coordinate game scheduling and team travel, manage budget, expenditures, purchasing, and scholarship allocation processes, and coordinate fundraising, camps, and revenue-generating initiatives designed to balance the annual budget.
Requirements:
- Five years experience coaching NCAA Collegiate Men's Ice Hockey, juniors, and international juniors, professionally as Assistant or Head Coach.
- Physical demands include bending, carrying, moving, reaching, sitting, twisting, balancing, climbing, driving, lifting, pulling/pushing, repetitive movement, standing, and additional education/experiences to be considered.
- Demonstrated commitment, experience, and understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are required.
