Description :
The position is for a Class B Material Truck Operator. The operator is responsible for operating a Class B commercial vehicle to transport materials and goods to various job sites. This role requires the driver to adhere to safety regulations, ensure proper handling and delivery of materials, and perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks. The operator may be required to load and unload materials, work with a team to deliver goods, and maintain communication with the operations team to ensure timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities :
Safely operate a Class B commercial truck to transport materials to and from various locations.
Ensure the truck is in good working condition and comply with all state and federal transportation regulations.Monitor vehicle performance and report any issues to the maintenance team.Material Handling :Load and unload materials using appropriate techniques and equipment (e.g., forklifts, hand trucks).
Ensure proper securement of materials to prevent damage or shifting during transit.Assist in the loading and unloading of materials at the site, ensuring correct placement.Safety and Compliance :Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Conduct pre-trip inspections of the truck and ensure all safety equipment is operational.Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety standards, to promote a safe working environment.Documentation :Maintain accurate logs of delivery times, mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance checks.
Complete and submit required paperwork, including delivery receipts and inspection reports.Customer Service :Interact with customers or site personnel to confirm delivery instructions and address any issues.
Ensure timely and efficient deliveries, handling any discrepancies or issues as they arise.Maintenance and Upkeep :Perform routine maintenance checks on the truck (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire condition, etc.).
Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained both inside and out.Collaboration :Work closely with dispatchers, operations managers, and other team members to ensure efficient route planning and on-time deliveries.
Assist with unloading and organizing materials as needed.Working Conditions :
Regular travel to job sites.Some outdoor work in varying weather conditions.May require evening or weekend work based on delivery schedules.Requirements : Qualifications :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent.Experience : Previous experience driving a Class B commercial vehicle (1–2 years preferred). Experience with material handling and loading / unloading is a plus.License : Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.Skills :Ability to operate a Class B truck and related equipment safely.
Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety procedures.Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.Ability to read and follow maps and directions for efficient routes.Excellent communication skills for customer interactions and reporting.Physical Requirements :Ability to lift and carry materials up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and handle outdoor tasks.Ability to sit for long periods while driving and perform manual labor as needed during deliveries.
