The Railroad Load Adjust Laborer is responsible for ensuring that freight cars are properly loaded and balanced in compliance with safety and operational standards. This role involves physically adjusting and securing loads, inspecting shipments, and ensuring that all cargo is safely positioned for transit on railroads.
Key Responsibilities :
- Inspect freight cars to ensure loads are balanced and properly secured according to safety regulations and company policies.
- Adjust loads by shifting or repositioning items within freight cars to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Utilize hand tools, mechanical equipment, or other resources to secure cargo safely.
- Work with the train crew to verify that cargo weights and load distributions comply with railroad guidelines.
- Perform routine inspections of the equipment and materials to ensure safety and operational integrity.
- Communicate with supervisors, drivers, and other workers to ensure safe and timely loading of cargo.
- Follow all relevant safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries during the loading and adjustment process.
- Document and report any irregularities, damage, or safety hazards related to freight loads.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
