Job Description:
In this managerial position, the MEP Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing the engineering activities of the Engineering Services Department pertaining to the MEP subjects of the projects in which they will be involved, as well as for formulating and normalizing policies and strategies for projects.
As an MEP Design Manager, you will work on a variety of civil infrastructure projects, mainly large-scale Design & Build Projects across the US geography for either the bidding phase or the construction phase. You will have the opportunity to learn the Company standards for Electrical and ITS design and to develop expertise in the use of traffic analysis design software and processes. Under the supervision and mentoring of Ferrovial Construction US’s design department, you will have the technical support and all resources to develop and advance your career participating in large scale projects in a collaborative environment. This position is based in the company’s North American headquarters in Austin, Texas and will be requiring relocation to our developing projects in the future.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Specifically, and under the direction of the Design Manager of each one of the projects to which they will be assigned, the MEP Design Manager will be responsible for carrying out the following managerial job duties:
- Supervise work through planning and scheduling work activities of the team.
- Supervise and control the work of other supervisory, professional, or managerial employees
- Oversee, monitor, and review the design work performed by the teams of structural engineers of the external consultant companies contracted by Ferrovial Construction to perform the design, providing them guidance as required to meet the criteria of Ferrovial Construction and the requirements of the client
- Review MEP drawings and reports
- Propose changes to the MEP, pursuing cost and constructability optimization and risk mitigation
- Collaborate with several other senior-level and professional managerial employees
- Coordinate with other teams, such as construction and utilities, and with other design discipline teams such as structures, architecture, drainage, addressing any potential conflicts in the most beneficial way for the project as a whole
- Work with the client with regards to MEP design as well as providing advice and assessment about engineering issues or structural options
- Perform various leadership activities, including mentorship and guidance of junior employees
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering required obtained from an accredited U.S. college or university
- MSC required
- Minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience in the design of MEP
- Knowledge and experience with electrical and lighting design software as AGI 32, mechanical design in Trace 3D Plus, electrical, CAD/MicroStation/BIM 3D applicable software common to the field of infrastructure projects
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated qualities of leadership and hard work
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings and 3D models, and specifications
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must possess strong attention to detail and can work in a fast-paced environment; an eagerness to learn and apply your engineering skills to develop creative problem-solving designs/ideas
- Strong commitment to high standards, integrity and ethics
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States, no visa sponsorship available at this time. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
