About the position:
We believe that the best way to make a career out of being a fitness professional is through a combination of personal training, group classes, and taking on 1 or 2 roles outside of coaching like nutrition, programming, events, social media, etc. We are seeking an individual who aligns with our mission and core values and is ready to step into a full time position immediately.
We are looking for fitness professionals that can come in and coach 25 floor hours per week of group classes and/or 1:1 sessions. An additional 10-15 hours per week to be spent on client programming and/or admin work.
- Minimum Requirements:
o Formal education in the form of a college degree, bachelors, associates, etc.
o Ideally exercise science, exercise physiology, versed in anatomy, and/or physical therapy education preferred.
o Optional: Personal Training Certification, Nutrition Certification

- Key Responsibilities:
o Coach assigned group classes if that is part of your job decription
o If qualified, become a coach in our FeRRUM FeD nutrition program which is designed to educate clients on healthy nutrition and meeting their goals
o Attend and actively participate in quarterly/monthly/weekly meetings
o Be available to take on personal training clients
o Never ending pursuit of excellence via continued education, coach’s development sessions, and 1-on-1 evaluations.
o Have your personal health and wellness as a priority through working out, healthy lifestyle, etc. Be a product of our product.
o Be willing and able to take on a role outside the gym floor. Social media, programming, front desk, sales, marketing, nutrition, etc.
- Additional Expectations:
o Adhere to FeRRUM core values inside and outside of the gym (including social media)
o Be an open source of communication. No gossip.
o Cover additional classes when needed
o Fulfill all opening and/or closing duties per the Ferrum Employee Handbook
o Be on the floor and engaged with members at least 10 minutes before and after every class.
o Be fully prepared for class (lesson plan) prior to the 10 minutes before every class.
o Greet and take care of walk-ins and drop-ins whenever present at FeRRUM
o Communicate regular gym/member updates to ownership
o Actively participate in all FeRRUM hosted development sessions and 1-on-1 development sessions
o Help stage, clean, and organize the gym before and after all classes
o Continued education and never-ending pursuit of excellence
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting employment is paid hourly. Pay starts at $25/hour and increases
- 50 % of all revenue from personal training, individual programming, and nutrition (if applicable)
- For full time employees, a minimum of 25 floor hours is required with an earning potential that starts at $50,000 /yr and scales over time
About FeRRUM:
My partner Cheri, and I, opened FeRRUM in May of 2012. Over the last, almost, 13 years, we have grown FeRRUM to over 200 active members and have become the only “longevity gym” in the City of Jacksonville. Our current facility is 8000 sqft featuring a full lobby, personal training/seminar area, separate group class area, along with bathrooms with showers. We offer personal training, individualized online programming, a muscle-centric group class, and nutrition coaching. We have plenty of opportunities to learn and grow within our gym.
Our team is on a mission to empower people and communities to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. We aim to help people change their outlook on what they believe is possible in life as we age. We have seen a huge increase in people who need help with becoming healthier, overcoming metabolic disease, and alleviating pain. This has become our specialty.
We do this by providing personal coaching in an energetic, fun, and inclusive team-environment. We seek to attract people who share our core values and add to the professional environment.
