What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assisted Living Facility (ALF) NAC PRN position at Ferry County Health?
JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of direct patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the age related personal needs and comforts of residents. Serves as the supplemental eyes, ears, and hand of the ALF Manager. Much of the basic day-to-day care of the resident such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting and transferring is delegated to the NAC as per personal plan of care. NAC reports observations made while performing her/his duties to the ALF Manager and Nurse Oversight. NAC is responsible for assisting elderly people who are in need of 24 hour oversight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Performs duties as assigned by ALF Manager and/or Nurse Oversight including baths, oral hygiene, nail care, foot care, skin care, etc.
- Takes accurate vital signs.
- Describes the activities of daily living and demonstrates the ability to use techniques to assist the resident to meet these activities.
- Notifies appropriate licensed staff when patient complains of pain.
- Positions patient in bed with proper body alignment.
- Assists patient with ambulation as necessary.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Performs routine housekeeping duties, such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, etc.
- Assists with meal preparation and service.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Identifies and communicates findings to the ALF Manager or Nurse Oversight.
- Note condition of skin, check for pressure ulcers
- Recognize, respond, report resident emotional, social, cultural & mental health needs
- Works as part of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide care which protects resident from abuse, mistreatment or neglect and reports instances (real and/or suspected) to appropriate staff and agency.
- Perform other related tasks/duties as may be requested or assigned for the effectiveness and efficient function of the Klondike Hills and Ferry County Health.
- Perform related duties as assigned by management.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Actively checks and responds to emails and QLIQ account throughout the work day.
- Completes all mandatory education within given timeframe.
- Maintains regulatory requirements.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
- Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled.
- Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes.
- Actively participates in the department’s quality improvement (QI) activities.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices and the employee handbook.
- Communicates the mission, vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department.
- Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean.
- All Ferry County Health employees are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy, state and federal regulations, including not but limited to, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Current Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) in State of Washington.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within three (3) months of hire date
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
