This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at our Houston, TX, office will be required. Frequent travel will be required. Responsibilities
- Planning and Design: Lead the completions engineering and planning for Fervo’s EGS wells, including stimulation design, completions equipment specification, workover activities, schedules and budgets; Lead post job analysis and identification of improvement opportunities
- Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and industry standards during completion operations; Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential hazards
- Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate the activities of completion engineers and contractors; Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance technical skills and professional development
- Technology Leadership: Lead the identification and development of tools, equipment and processes to further improve well performance and operational efficiencies
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with drilling, reservoir, and production teams to optimize well design and performance; Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure quality and timely delivery of services and materials
- Budget and Resource Management: Prepare and manage budgets for completion projects, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality or safety; Monitor expenditures and report variances to senior management
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local, national, and international regulations governing oil and gas activities; Prepare and submit required documentation to regulatory bodies
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience of unconventional completion/interventions operations experience
- Experience with multiple conventional/unconventional basins and completion technologies
- Experience with tools and methods for evaluating completion efficiency and optimizing well performance
- Risk management skills, including knowledge of Risk Assessment and Management of Chance (MOC)
- Familiarity with industry leading stimulation modeling software tools (ResFrac, Kinetix, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Stimulation, Workover rig, Coiled tubing, and Wirline operations
- Proficiency in data analysis and process optimization techniques
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills; Strong communication and interpersonal skills
