What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Fette Veterinary Clinic?
Fette Veterinary Clinic is seeking full and part time veterinary technicians to our work family. Fette Veterinary Clinic is a fun team oriented practice with ample room for growth and advancement in the veterinary field. The right candidate must be able to follow instructions quickly, be able to multitask, work as a team, have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and handle animals safely. ** The shift will be 12-9pm with preference given to those who have Saturday Availability.
Ideal candidates will be able to:
Assist veterinarian and co-workers in the restraint of canine and feline patients. Assist with treatments of patients in a variety of situations including but not limited to physical exams, blood draws, intravenous catheter placement, radiology, intubation, and euthanasia. Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, subordinates, and clients by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Fill prescriptions and prepare medications as prescribed by the veterinarian and review medication history and use with clients. Prepare estimates for recommended services and review with client. Accurately maintain patient medical records while documenting services provided in written form and using Idexx Neo Veterinary Software. Provide client education regarding treatment, home care, medications etc. Accurately perform diagnostic testing such as, CBC’s, chemistries, urinalysis, blood smears, Doppler blood pressure, EKG’s, skin scrapes, ear cytology’s, ear mite slides, etc. Assess patients in emergency situations, TPR, triage and stabilize. Perform treatments of patients in the hospital, this includes but is not limited to IV catheter placement, starting and maintaining IV fluid therapy, performing injections by SQ, IM and IV routes, running in-house lab work, taking quality radiographs, administering oral medications, enemas, bandage placement, and syringe feeding. Assisting in the safe delivery of anesthetic protocols, performing intubation, providing constant patient monitoring during anesthesia while reacting calmly to correct patient values as needed and providing a smooth patient recovery following anesthesia. Prep surgical patients for a variety of surgical procedures while creating and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform dental charting and cleanings of canine and feline patients. Position, collimate and develop quality radiographs using digital software. Maintain very high standards of patient care.
