Responsibilities
AI Integration
- Lead efforts to integrate AI into NATO’s wargaming operations, identifying and implementing opportunities for enhancement.
- Develop and maintain a roadmap for AI integration within wargaming simulations.
- Implement data collection, analysis, and real-time visualization techniques to support decision-making during simulations.
- Design tools and processes that enhance human-machine teaming for effective collaboration in wargaming scenarios.
- Conduct experiments to evaluate AI applications in wargaming contexts and present findings to stakeholders.
- Develop multimedia training and preparatory materials using advanced AI tools.
- Provide training to NATO personnel on AI’s role in wargaming and explore automation opportunities through AI applications.
- Be willing to travel up to 30 days annually for meetings, conferences, and exercises.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields (Master’s degree preferred).
- Alternatively, 4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Minimum 4 years in Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI (5 years preferred).
- Proven track record of integrating AI technologies into practical applications (minimum 3 years; 5 years preferred).
- Expertise with generative AI models, including Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Proficiency in Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
- Understanding of wargaming principles and methodologies.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in managing AI-related projects through planning, execution, and reporting phases.
- In-depth knowledge of data security principles and best practices.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Data Scientist or AI Engineer with:
- Active Secret Clearance and citizenship in a NATO member country.
- Residency in Norfolk, VA, or the ability to commute.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI, with proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Proven expertise in applying AI technologies to real-world challenges, including experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with wargaming methodologies and experience working within multidisciplinary team environments.
