To be successful as a Bindery Manager, this working Manager position recognizes cooperation and collaboration with the Production Manager as essential. The Bindery Manager will oversee all aspects of print production bindery operations, ensure efficient and high-quality finishing of printed materials by effectively managing staff, equipment, and production schedules while maintaining quality standards and safety protocols. Responsibilities will include setting up and operating bindery machinery, performing quality checks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and coordinating with other production areas to meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
* Plan and schedule bindery production to meet customer deadlines and optimize workflow.
* Monitor production progress, identify workflow issues, and implement corrective action.
* Lead production teams and assign tasks to bindery operators based on workload and skillsets; forecast production schedules for workforce staffing and supply chain requirements.
* Ensure accurate job setup and adherence to specifications on all bindery equipment.
* Develop improved processes, systems, and procedures by maximizing efficiency through innovation and creativity.
Quality Control:
* Identify and address quality issues promptly, implementing corrective action as needed.
* Monitor and maintain consistent quality throughout the finishing process.
* Perform thorough quality checks during production and on finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Staff Supervision:
* Train and develop bindery operators on proper machine operation, safety procedures, and quality standards; ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of bindery operators.
* Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and address performance concerns.
* Ensure adherence to OSHA General Industry and Safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Create a positive atmosphere by treating employees with dignity, respect, and soliciting their involvement in problem solving.
* Oversee the following positions: Bindery Lead, Shipping Lead, and Receiving Lead
Qualifications:
* Knowledge of print bindery operations, equipment, workflow, and production processes.
* Ability to increase equipment knowledge through additional training and operation.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
* Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve production challenges.
* Clear communication skills when working with other production areas and employees, ensuring smooth workflow and timely delivery.
* Ability to multi-task and monitor multiple bindery production jobs and employees at one time.
* Knowledge of OSHA General Industry Compliance and Safety Training requirements.
