Shift Operations Manager Frozen Food Express is looking for a Shift Operations Manager for our Burlington, NJ location.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the proper execution of the dock operations for the assigned shift, ensuring that productivity levels are met and that our customer’s freight is handled timely, efficiently, and claims free in the most economical fashion.
- Directly supervise assigned dockworkers and yard employees to include adherence to company policy, performance counseling and reviews up to and including administering disciplinary action and recommendations for promotion, transfer or termination.
- Train new Dockworkers and Yard Hostlers.
- Use discretion to plan staffing for shift and assign work based upon work load/projected arrival times and make adjustments to loads as needed or required.
- Inspect and manage all material handling equipment.
- Direct clerical staff on document preparation.
- Conduct daily, pre-shift safety communication meetings.
- Conduct daily yard inventory to include trailer, seal, and temperature checks.
- Unloading, storing, staging, checking, tagging, handling, and loading of freight between the warehouse and inbound and outbound trailers.
- Monitor temperature environment of the warehouse, the cleanliness of dock and warehouse, proper functionality of doors, dock plates and material handling equipment.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- HS Diploma or Equivalent
- 3 year of LTL Transportation/Dock Experience
- 5 years of Management/Supervisor Experience (required)
- Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, etc.
- AS400 experience is preferred, but not required
- Strong Customer Service Skills
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
- Ability to solve problems where work is defined with established instructions and processes
- Ability to work under close detailed instruction
- Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting.
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment
