Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing the client-facing relationship with regards to all facets of the client relationship, including Accounting, Financial Reporting, and tax functions.
He or she is responsible for overseeing the accounting and tax functions for our clients. Review and analyze financial reports, journal entries, and supervise the team members on their maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Primary contact and relationship manager for the assigned client accounts
- Prepare for and attend client meetings
- Expert in books and records and monthly and yearly closings (e.g. balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements); prepare and review deliverable packages, including snapshots financial statements and reporting;
- Accountable for ensuring that internal controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the client assets are protected.
- Confirm the daily and weekly checklists are being completed and the work is being done properly.
- Confirm the monthly checklists are being completed and the books are being signed off on and closed properly.
- Confirm the annual checklists and deliverables to the tax team have been completed timely and accurately.
- Coordinate with tax team to ensure extensions and returns and tax notices are being worked on and completed by the expected dates.
- Ensures that the team is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities, noted above.
- Responsible for continued development of team members, including training on processes and procedures, ongoing development of accounting and tax knowledge, and liaising with the Chief People Officer on all leadership initiatives.
- Be a resource to the team on questions related to accounting, books and records, taxes, etc.
- Performing other work-related duties as assigned.
- Reconciles monthly AR billing and realization analysis and write offs
- Manages scheduling and budget of client engagement
- Manage client projects; functions with general autonomy and independently establishes workflow to meet project goals
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA required
- Minimum 12 years accounting experience; business management or family office a plus
- CFP/PFS certification a plus
- Tax and/or Audit experience a plus
- Significant management experience and skills
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
- Manages team schedule to ensure delivery of reports/services in a timely manner
- Creates synergy with team by effectively delegating responsibilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong advocate of continuous improvement; Seeks out and accepts feedback and suggestions for improvement and ways to become more effective and efficient at all levels of the client team/service
- Strong consulting skills, including analysis, documentation, communication, and presentation
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Bill.com a plus
- Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
- Self-starter who maintains a positive attitude and loves a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on tight deadlines while producing high-quality work.
