Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence, dignity, and respect. The DSP will work closely with clients to assist them in daily living activities, ensuring their safety and well-being while fostering a supportive environment. The individuals will have behaviors and escalations and the ideal candidate must have experience working in the environment of a level 4I home.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' social interactions.
- Monitor clients' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Support clients in meal preparation and cooking nutritious meals according to dietary needs.
- Facilitate engagement in recreational activities and social events to promote community involvement.
- Ensure that resident rights are respected and upheld at all times.
- Assist with heavy lifting as needed for client mobility or transportation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to hygiene standards.
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records of client progress.

- Experience with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities
-Knowledge of deescalation techniques
-Knowledge of daily charting of assessing individuals behaviors
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Familiarity with social work principles and practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform patient monitoring effectively, ensuring safety and comfort for clients.
- Competence in understanding resident rights and advocating for client needs.
- Physical capability to assist with heavy lifting when required.
- A compassionate approach to care, demonstrating patience and understanding towards individuals with disabilities or special needs.
This role is essential in providing high-quality support that empowers individuals to lead fulfilling lives while receiving the necessary assistance tailored to their unique needs.
Must be CPR, RBT (preferred) CPI (preferred) DSP1, DSP2
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.63 - $18.46 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
