FFVA Mutual Insurance Co. is a mono-line workers’ compensation carrier, rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best. We insure a variety of businesses in all major industry groups across ten states - AL, FL, GA, IN, KY, MS, NC, SC, TN, and VA. We are looking for the best candidates interested in working from their home-based office within the assigned territory. The service territory falls between Orlando and Palm Beach, FL, including Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Indian River, Okeechobee, St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach counties. Responsibilities:
- Review policyholder’s claims statistics and use prescribed metrics to determine the need or frequency of scheduling visits to existing clients to conduct a risk assessment review. Respond to requests from the Underwriting Department to conduct a risk assessment on potential policyholders to provide the required underwriting information.
- Contribute to the Loss Control Team efforts by generating and translating documents from English to Spanish and providing policyholder employees with training in Spanish.
- Develop itineraries, work with clients to ensure efficient scheduling of visits and planning for extended stays as required.
- Conduct loss control and safety surveys at client locations. Provide safety training, ergonomic assessments, and other services as needed, to provide clients with the necessary information, skills and tools to conduct their operation in a safe productive manner while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements for workplace safety.
- Meet with the insured contact, employees, and insurance agents as necessary. Offer clients the value-added services that FFVA Mutual provides free of charge. Explain training tools, ideas, programs, consultative assistance and support available through the organization’s website or direct contact with the Safety Consultant.
- Provide client training in methods for generating and maintaining required safety-related documentation. Examine company records to ensure they are current and complete.
- Tour the client’s facilities and monitor work activity to determine if safety methods and tools are in place and are being utilized consistently and if facilities follow best practice, OSHA and other regulatory requirements. Record information and take and label pictures to supplement reports to Underwriting.
- Prepare reports for Underwriting on findings and recommendations following client visits. Correspond with clients in response to visits and include recommendations for improving safety practices and controlling existing hazards. Suggest training courses, programs and campaigns that might mitigate their losses. Invite clients to visit the FFVA Mutual website for additional safety information. Update client information in computer database.
Other Duties:
- Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups as directed. Maintain the required level of knowledge pertaining to operating procedures, requirements, processes, and policies.
- Lead and/or participate in projects or campaigns which focus on issues that have organization wide impact.
- Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly working environment.
- Perform or assist with any assignments or special projects as required or directed.
- Occasional overnight and out of state travel as required or directed.
Requirements:
- Must reside within the service territory
- Knowledge of related laws and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, customers, employees, agents and government officials as needed.
- Fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Able to use electronic and computerized technology as required.
- Able to analyze, interpret and help develop graphs, charts, programs and trends.
- Bachelors or Associates degree with at least 1-4 years of experience in safety management, regulatory auditing/compliance or insurance commercial risk assessment is preferred.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) in addition to 4-5 years of experience in safety management, regulatory auditing/compliance or insurance commercial risk assessment is required.
- All applicants must hold a valid/active state-issued driver’s license, have a good driving record and be willing to conduct overnight travel as needed.
