Internship Description:
This internship provides experience in the financial services industry and the opportunity to learn about the Federal Home Loan Banks’ (FHLBs) integral role in providing a source of funding and liquidity to the mortgage markets. The FHLBs provide readily available, low-cost funding to members thereby increasing the availability of credit for residential mortgage lending and investment in housing and community development. This unique experience will expose you in a short period of time to a wide range of mortgage products utilized as collateral to secure funding, as well as an understanding of various collateral valuation practices.
Areas of Focus:
Collateral Services – Gain a wealth of knowledge from mortgage industry experts with extensive experience in mortgage underwriting and lending practices. This group is responsible for conducting loans reviews, validate lending policies and practices of financial institutions and for perfecting the Bank’s security interest on collateral pledged to the Bank to secure borrowings. In this position, you will gain a wealth of knowledge into loan documentation, asset valuation, secured lending practices and warehouse lending.
The candidate will be responsible for performing analysis of the Bank’s collateral, analyzing loan documents for various types of mortgage loans, and create and review reports that provide value to the department and the Bank.
Qualifications:
- Maintain an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Pursing a bachelor’s degree with concentration in account, real estate, or finance.
- Self-starter with strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Organized and highly detail-oriented
- Team player with strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as the ability to listen to and accept instruction
- Hours Per Week: 40
Eligibility: Students must be enrolled and active as a undergrad or graduate at an accredited college or university offering post graduate studies. Students should be pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance or Real Estate with a GPA of 3.5 or better.
