Organizes and facilitates department activities to deliver quality care using standards based. Priorities include quality and service excellence, which focuses on patient, staff and physician satisfaction. Directs and supervises staff ensuring that workforce standards are demonstrated in the delivery of patient care. Serves as a link to all disciplines for patient care to assure desired outcomes. Mediates and problem solves concerns related to physician, staff and/or administrative policy.

  • Directly supervises staff in assigned departments. Responsibilities include assigning and directing work, appraising performance, recognition of staff and counseling staff when appropriate. Problem resolution for quality and service issues.

  • Incorporates leadership standards into daily practice.
  • Responsible for the coordination of unit needs, addressing physician/staff/patient and family issues to maintain daily operations and communication among healthcare team.
  • Ensures compliance of policies, procedures, patient care standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Counsels, monitors, and documents staff performance to promote patient outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • Serves as expert clinical resource for nursing care delivery models to meet identified patient outcomes while expanding staff expertise.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency in providing age specific care to patients in designated areas of practice.
  • Supports key nursing initiatives: councils, performance improvements and clinical guidelines.
  • Displays competency for the Clinical Leader role as evidenced in the annual performance appraisal following the FHN Leadership Standards.

  • Actively supports and participates in FHN initiatives within the communities we serve.
  • Actively promotes FHN within the community.

  • Support the organization’s role in providing healthcare to the community with innovation and enhancing existing services to improve community health.


Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university

Required Experience: Five to eight years field related and/or other job-related experience. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, management of resources (human, technical, and financial) strategic planning, project management, negotiation, quality assurance.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Prefer certification in applicable field along with current RN licensure/registration in the state of Illinois.

  • Older Adult: >60 years
  • Serves patient in areas other than patient care.
