Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Line Crew member to perform construction, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of internet/phone services for residential and commercial fiber network. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer premises to set up or repair service - install, connect, test, and maintain network equipment.
- Measure signal strength at utility poles, using electronic test equipment.
- Inspect, test lines and cables, record and analyze test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.
- Splice cables, using industry specific equipment.
- Access specific areas to string lines or install terminal boxes, auxiliary equipment, or appliances, using bucket trucks, or by climbing poles or ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces.
- String cables between structures and lines from poles or trenches and pull lines to proper tension.
- Pull up cable by hand from large reels mounted on trucks.
- Lay underground cables directly in trenches or string it through conduits running through trenches.
- Pull cable through ducts by hand or with winches.
- Dig trenches for underground wires or cables.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools and equipment used on-site.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license required for operating company vehicles. CDLA a plus.
- Travel to and from assigned territories and company facilities, including during inclement weather.
- Experience preferred but not required in fiber optic construction for indoor and outdoor settings. Fiber Connect will train suitable candidate.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Able to perform general labor tasks relevant to fiber optic network infrastructure as well as individual equipment installation and setup.
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with a team.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Previous experience in telecommunications, electrical engineering and other related fields preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques and computer networking principles is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Must have own transportation to and from Fiber Connect Headquarters in Egremont, MA.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
