Job Overview:

The Engineering Manager leads and develops a multidisciplinary engineering team, including Mechanical, Controls, Quality, and Process Engineers, in a building materials manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong technical background, strategic leadership, and business acumen to set priorities, drive results, and ensure operational excellence. The Engineering Manager will work cross-functionally with production, logistics, product development, and sales teams to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety while managing technical projects and engineering team expansion as needed.

The Engineering Manager will have the autonomy and decision-making authority to drive our production facilities to world-class operations across all metrics. With the facility's production capacity and product range continuously expanding, there will be a constant stream of new and exciting projects to lead.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Mechanical, Controls, Quality, and Process Engineering teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Set clear expectations, priorities, and performance goals for the engineering team while driving accountability and professional development.
  • Oversee and guide new technical projects, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency across all engineering functions.
  • Make data-driven decisions to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and improve overall plant performance.
  • Work closely with production, logistics, product development, and sales teams to support operational needs and business growth.
  • Review and interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical and control diagrams, and process flowcharts.
  • Implement and maintain MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems for improved production tracking and decision-making.
  • Drive automation, process optimization, and reliability improvements across the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and company policies.
  • Identify engineering talent gaps and build out the team as needed to support business expansion.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in building materials or heavy industry.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, controls engineering, quality standards, and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop an engineering team, setting clear priorities and achieving results.
  • Experience with technical project management, resource planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with MES/ERP systems for production tracking and data analysis.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and drive improvements based on insights.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy, take initiative, and adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong background in automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, industrial networking, and SCADA systems.
  • Experience managing capital projects and vendor relationships for new equipment implementation.
  • All other knowledge, skills, and abilities that are reasonably aligned with this role, such as strong project management and organizational skills, time management skills, problem solving skills, ability to use necessary computer software, etc.


Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Periods of working on feet and using tools while evaluating manufacturing equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required for safety.
