Job Summary :
The Staff Manufacturing Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for driving the development, optimization, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and equipment. This role combines expertise in process improvement, quality assurance, equipment design, and controls to ensure the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and product quality. The Staff Manufacturing Engineer will also lead and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support Fiber Global's production goals and growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities : Process Development and Optimization :
Lead the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and product quality.
Utilize engineering principles, data analysis, and root cause analysis to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions.
Design and implement workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other documentation to support consistent and efficient production.
Equipment Design and Controls :
Oversee the design, procurement, installation, and optimization of manufacturing equipment to meet current and future production demands.
Manage and troubleshoot control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and automation technologies.
Ensure all equipment complies with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to implement preventative and recovery maintenance strategies.
Quality Assurance :
Develop and enforce quality control measures to meet regulatory standards and ensure product consistency.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and implement improvements as needed.
Support new product introduction (NPI) by validating processes and ensuring seamless scaling to production.
Leadership and Collaboration :
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and engineering, to address challenges and drive improvements.
Train production teams on basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance techniques.
Continuous Improvement :
Stay updated on industry advancements and integrate best practices into Fiber Global's processes.
Lead projects focused on equipment upgrades, process automation, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Champion safety and sustainability in all aspects of manufacturing.
Required Skills and Abilities :
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality assurance principles.
Expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
Proficiency in CAD software for designing tools, jigs, and equipment layouts.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Excellent leadership and communication abilities to guide direct reports and collaborate across teams.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Abilities :
Experience with programming languages (SQL, Python, or similar).
Knowledge of industrial robotics and automation systems.
Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality assurance tools.
Experience with NPI and scaling production for new products.
Background in quality certifications such as Six Sigma or ISO standards.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on process improvement, equipment design, or quality control.
