Fiber Network Services is a communications contractor offering a full range of fiber optic cable network services. With Master Construction Agreements with Cox Communications, Comcast Cable, Crown Castle, Segra, Suddenlink, Windstream, RCN and others in the State of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Tennessee, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and in Washington D.C., we are a trusted resource for cabling and maintaining high-speed internet connectivity via fiber optic and Coaxial systems.
We are looking for a Coaxial Splicer Supervisor for our Glen Allen/Richmond VA location.
Job Responsibilities (But not limited to):
- Splice, balance, activate and troubleshoot forward and reverse signal paths for new coax construction and BAU projects. Typical Coax sizes are .625 and .875.
- Capable of completing node splits, mid splits, training coax splicers and installing specs and amps
- Familiar with hardline coax splicing, signal flow, theory, and reading blueprints
- Capable of optimizing nodes and familiar with harmonic nodes
- Track and report daily work via digital methods, Email, Excel, etc.
- Hours/Week: 40-50
- Perform walkouts pre/post-construction and verify as-builtsTroubleshoot any build-out issues in the field
- Able to identify safe working conditions in an outside right-of-way environment
- Identify permitting requirements as needed
- Creating a bill of materials (BOM)
- Compile notice-to-proceed (NTP) packages for contractors
- Able to scope, plan and execute HFC projects to contractors and be able to track and manage project lifecycles, pay contractors, and submit to final client invoicing.
- Able to perform effective quality control of all project work performed
- Provide weekly reports to management on construction activity
- Follow-up with city municipalities regarding permitting issues
Job Requirements:
- Will require knowledge and proper safe usage of Aerial lift Bucket Trucks as well as the ability to use ladders. The ability to climb/hook is optional.
- Will require the ability to safely work within Public Right-of-way, including proper use and knowledge of applicable PPE.
- Perfect candidate will have their own hand tools including Coring tools. Tools may be supplied depending on experience level.
- Ability to work regularly outdoors in different weather types.
- Ability to use a TDR
- Ability to effectively communicate with others and work within a team environment
- Ability to be at work every day at 7am
- Ability to occasionally be On-Call for after-hours emergency work
- Ability to use Email and MS Excel for basic project tracking
- Possession of a valid Driver's license
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to read and understand technical instruction
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Years of Experience: min 3 preferred.
