Job Summary
We seek a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee and drive the successful execution of projects from initiation to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of project management methodologies. You will provide engineering support to the manufacturing process, serving as a technical resource focusing on initiatives related to safety improvements, preventative maintenance, process improvements, quality improvements, infrastructure work, and troubleshooting/problem resolution for electronic and mechanical equipment issues.
Responsibilities
- Maintain 24/7 Plant manufacturing operation. Focus on safe, efficient, reliable maintenance and equipment operation to ensure quality product production.
- Responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing management-approved capital projects.
- Serve as the primary resource for safety-related issues with the goal of meeting/exceeding OSHA requirements for a safe workplace. Investigate, develop, and provide recommended solutions for any safety issues related to plant equipment.
- Evaluate, plan, and drive execution of preventative maintenance programs.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Work with vendors to source and substitute OEM parts with more economical options, design and test improved parts, and update older electronics that manufacturers no longer support to enhance equipment functionality.
- Ascertain and include all relevant requirements on all work assignments, including building permits, environmental regulations, sanitary design, Good Manufacturing Practices, and OSHA Safety regulations.
- Implement maintenance and operator training for all new equipment and systems installed.
- Support plant productivity initiatives, significantly improving equipment reliability and reducing waste. Provide troubleshooting, problem analysis, and technical support to the plant as requested.
- Supervise work performed by contractors and service personnel to ensure efficient coordination and completion of assigned projects as scheduled.
Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Paper, or Material Science preferred)
- Project management (2 years).
- Capital project management experience is a plus.
- Understand and operate machinery.
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to negotiate with vendors, contractors, and consultants.
- Computer skills include familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software, basic CAD skills, and utilizing MS Project and other project-tracking software.
- Results and action-oriented.
- LEAN / Six Sigma knowledge and experience.
Physical Considerations:
- Ability to walk, squat, stoop, bend, kneel, climb in and around machinery and equipment.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift to 60 lbs.
- Ability to spend 4 /- hours daily in a production environment investigating equipment and processes.
Work Environment:
- Primarily in an office environment, 45 hours/week; however, spending 40% /- of time in a production environment for observation and execution of project needs.
