The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) certification, ensuring compliance, conducting audits, and driving continuous process improvements. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate across departments to maintain the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS) Optimization & Compliance (30%)
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective AS9100-certified Quality Management System (QMS).
- Maintain and update Quality Manuals and Procedures, ensuring alignment with industry standards and company objectives.
- Lead AS9100 certification efforts, ensuring continued compliance through audits and process improvements.
- Plan, organize, and oversee internal audits, ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in customer audits, providing necessary documentation and support to demonstrate compliance.
- Host external vendor quality system audits, ensuring suppliers meet Fibreworks' quality expectations.
- Provide training and guidance to internal auditors to enhance audit effectiveness and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality plans, inspection processes, and testing methodologies.
- Conduct training programs on inspection processes, ensuring precision in composite part production.
- Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and prevent product or process non-conformities.
- Manage the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) system, working towards timely resolution of internal and external non-conformances.
- Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives, analyzing non-conformance trends and implementing process improvements.
- Prepare, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and compliance documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement activities, enhancing quality control processes and efficiency across operations.
- Support quality awareness training across departments, fostering a culture of excellence and compliance.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and workplace policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business and quality objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 3 years in an AS9100/ISO 9001 manufacturing environment (aerospace experience preferred).
- Proficient in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, GD&T, Metrology, Calibration, and NDI composite inspection techniques.
- AS9100 Auditor Certification (preferred) with experience in customer-facing quality initiatives; ASQ CQE or CQA is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, Power BI, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational skills; able to lead independently with a detail-oriented, innovative, and improvement-driven mindset.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
