Hours/Week: 40 (5x8s)
Shift: :4PM to 12AM
Fidé is looking for a passionate and experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our team for a 13-week contract in East Elmhurst, NY, working on Rikers Island. If you're an empathetic clinician with a drive to help individuals in crisis, we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Do:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you’ll provide crucial mental health care to incarcerated adult men who need and/or seek services, working under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor and the Mental Health Unit Chief. Your role will include:
- Mental Health Evaluations & Crisis Intervention: Conduct assessments and provide immediate crisis care to patients in need.
- Discharge Planning & Coordination: Work with Reentry Social Workers to ensure smooth transitions and appropriate post-care services.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Partner with the Department of Correction to ensure patients receive proper care and housing, and liaise with other institutional programs to ensure continuity of care.
- Group Treatment Leadership: Develop and lead group therapy sessions, including on mental health observation units.
- Clinical Documentation & Case Conferences: Complete required reports, document patient progress, and actively participate in treatment planning and case conferences.
- Psychological Testing & Supervision: Conduct psychological evaluations as needed and provide mentorship to social work interns or volunteers.
You’ll also participate in weekly clinical supervision sessions with the Clinical Supervisor and attend mental health and medical rounds to stay aligned with patient needs and facility standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
- Licensure: Current New York State License in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.
- Experience: 2 years of current experience in mental health care, especially with adults facing behavioral challenges, substance use issues, and severe mental illness. Inpatient experience is a plus!
- Certifications: DOC/PREA Certifications required.
- Skills: Experience conducting assessments and treatment, crisis intervention, and leading group therapy. Familiarity with EMR systems is a plus (please include years of experience and systems used).
- Additional Requirements: A resume with full work history (no gaps), two recent supervisory references, a valid driver’s license, and a completed skills checklist from the past 12 months.
