As we continue to grow, we are looking to hire a new Environmental Services Professional/Custodian
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental Service Professional / Custodian to join our team here at Fiddlehead Brewing Company. As part of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout our brewery facility. You will ensure that both production areas and administrative spaces adhere to the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
This role plays a key part in upholding the brewery’s reputation for quality and excellence, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for staff and visitors and a safe, hygienic workspace for our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Cleaning and Maintenance
- Clean and sanitize production areas, including tanks and floors, ensuring compliance with brewery-specific health and safety standards.
- Regularly clean and maintain administrative and break areas, such as offices, waiting areas, conference rooms, breakrooms, and bathrooms, ensuring an inviting environment for guests.
- Wipe down surfaces, empty trash bins, and ensure all areas are stocked with necessary supplies (e.g., soap, paper towels).
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces to prevent cross-contamination, especially in areas where food and beverages are prepared and served.
Waste Management and Sustainability
- Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables according to environmental and sustainability guidelines.
- Assist in managing and reducing waste, following proper disposal methods for brewery byproducts.
- Support the brewery’s sustainability initiatives by helping to implement waste reduction practices, including recycling programs.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure that all cleaning materials and chemicals are properly stored, labeled, and used according to safety guidelines.
- Follow OSHA and brewery-specific safety protocols to maintain a hazard-free environment.
- Report any safety hazards, spills, or maintenance issues promptly to the Facilities Manager.
Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, etc.) and notify management of any issues with tools or machinery.
- Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment for different surfaces and areas, ensuring proper functionality and appearance.
General Support
- Assist with setting up and breaking down brewery events or large gatherings in public spaces.
- Provide support during routine inspections, including health and safety audits.
- Provide assistance to the maintenance team with general building related maintenance tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily brewery operations.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Previous custodial or environmental services experience, preferably in a manufacturing, food service, or business environment, where health and safety standards are high, such as a healthcare facility or school.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, tools, and safety protocols.
- Experience in waste management and sustainability practices is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation practices..
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and safely.
- Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment and stand for long periods.
- Ability to perform cleaning tasks that may involve exposure to various chemicals and cleaning agents.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced and dynamic brewery and office setting.
- Exposure to a variety of brewery equipment, cleaning chemicals, and working conditions.
- Must be able to handle fluctuating temperatures depending on the area of the brewery, including cooler and warmer spaces.
