The Group
Headquartered in Boston, the High Income & Alternatives group has more than $100B in assets under management (AUM). The group’s AUM are invested “across the capital structure,” including in emerging markets debt, high yield bonds, leveraged loans, convertible bonds, alternative credit, and equities. Fundamental research is the foundation of the group’s investment process.
The Role
The High Yield trader will be an integral member of the High Income & Alternatives investment team. The HI&A team consists of portfolio managers (PMs), research analysts and traders that work together to make informed investment decisions that benefit our shareholders. This role will directly support our High Yield market strategies across different investment teams. Candidates for the position will possess exceptional corporate trading acumen, market knowledge, thought leadership, and communication skills.
The Value You Deliver
Source investment opportunities and access liquidity in the marketplace. Negotiate and execute trades on behalf of our portfolios, including derivatives.
Provide market insights, color, and recommendations to the team of analysts and portfolio managers, including investment ideas
Maintain strong dealer and sponsor relationships (sales, trading, and syndicate).
Forward thinking around market structure, electronic execution / alternative trading venues, and transaction cost analysis.
Proficiency in capital structure analysis, distressed situations, and new issue process.
Understanding of the credit alternatives landscape.
Partner with technology, compliance, legal, operations, and other internal groups to provide best-in-class service and execution capabilities to the portfolios.
Represent the trading desk in periodic team meetings, client engagements and other ad hoc forums.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
10 years sell-side or buy-side experience trading high yield bonds and credit derivatives.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, or other relevant quantitative subject area.
Strong analytical ability along with excellent communication skills.
Aptitude for using new technologies to enhance our workflow, trading systems, and advance a quantitative approach where applicable.
Must be team oriented. Committed to transparent collaboration with PMs, fundamental and quantitative analysts as well as fellow traders.
Familiar with front-to-back-office operations, and highly proficient with trading technology.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a consistent focus on accuracy.
Ability to think creatively and independently while working in a collaborative environment.
