Job Description : The Department
With over $800 billion in assets under management, Fidelity Asset Management Solutions (FAMS) is a leading provider of asset allocation solutions for institutional and retail clients. The range of investment solutions includes target date funds, target allocation funds, income and real return strategies, managed volatility strategies, alternative investment, and custom institutional solutions.
The Team
The Asset Allocation Research Team (AART) consists of 12 members in Boston, Massachusetts under the leadership of the Managing Director of Research. The team leverages quantitative, qualitative, economic, and market insights to provide robust, research-based recommendations to investment teams across the Asset Management division of Fidelity Investments. With diverse backgrounds in economics, finance, political science, engineering and math disciplines, the primary focus of the research team is providing strategic and dynamic asset allocation insights for Fidelity Asset Management Solutions (FAMS) and Strategic Advisers (SAI). The team also produces thought leadership and broad asset-class positioning and insights to the broader Fidelity asset management community and to Fidelity's clients and distribution channels.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director of Asset Allocation Research, the research analyst will be a primary contributor to AART's cyclical macro research that produces active asset allocation recommendations. An important responsibility is running AART's core U.S. business cycle models. A strong knowledge of econometrics, business cycle economics, and leading indicators is essential. Familiarity with multi-asset investing and financial market analysis is valued. The position is located at the company's headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of economics, including relevant degrees (M.S. in Economics, CBE preferred) and at least five years of applied experience using analytical tools to develop economic, financial, or investment conclusions.
- Deep understanding of cyclical economic drivers, and an ability to use econometrics, quantitative techniques, and other technical skills to support analysis and produce repeatable outcomes with meaningful conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and across multiple dimensions.
- Ability to translate analytical approaches into clear conclusions and connect them to asset-allocation views and investment recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct both independent work and collaborate across teams.
- Experience providing updates, both written and verbal, that communicate research conclusions.
