FIDELITY MANUFACTURING is part of the backup Power Generation Industry. We design and build back up power packages (to include tanks and enclosures) for large and small health, industrial, and technology-oriented businesses that cannot have a power lapse at any time.
Position Summary
Performs all weld tests including pressure, vacuum, leak, weld penetration, ultrasound & x-ray testing. Responsible for all documentation of test results. Performs Steel and Aluminum weld inspections and testing. Assists to write or update procedures & work instructions. Certifies new welders.
Daily Job Responsibilities/Functions to Include, But Not Limited To
- Perform visual, measurable inspections on products in steel and aluminum weld processes
- Perform weld specific testing such as leak (pressure & vacuum), penetration, ultrasound & x-ray tests
- Document all paperwork accurately and completely
- Certify/re-certify welders to accepted standards
- Recommend improvements and train to industry best practices
- Investigate product complaints and reported quality issues to identify and report reoccurring issues, root cause, and corrective action to management and product development teams
- Develop or update company inspection and test procedures to ensure capture, investigation, and proper documentation
- Provide training and support to quality & production team members, focusing on systems, policies, procedures, and core processes
- Ensure calibration of all weld and measuring equipment
- And any other task as deemed appropriate by the Director of Quality.
Desired Characteristics
- Five years related experience and/or training in welding or weld inspections, or equivalent combination of education and experience for Steel & Aluminum
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Familiar with Quality Inspections, tools, & problem solving
- Able to make decisions based on experience and available data
- Require minimal supervision to plan and schedule workload
- Interacts with organizational team members and supervisors from all departments in a professional manner
- Work to continuously improve the operations of the department through lean activities and improvement suggestions.
- Willing and able to work flexible hours

- Demonstrated knowledge of testing best practices and defect management processes
- Ability to analyze current processes, collect data/information, analyze data, suggest improvement, and present supporting data/information to justify change.

- Ability to interpret specifications, blueprints, and work instructions
- Ability to use all measuring tools

Physical Requirement & Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for long periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and metal (to include metal or fiberglass ramps placed on 30 degree angles); climb stairs, balance, climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands; lift push, pull, and/or move more than 20 lbs. without a mechanical aid; and communicate with others. Work environment is a manufacturing warehouse atmosphere with extreme temperature changes, loud noises and machinery with moving parts. Work environment could also involve some outside exposure. May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
