What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Funeral Director position at Fidelity Memorial Group Corp?
We are looking to add an apprentice to the growing team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Licensed Funeral Director with making arrangements
- Assist Licensed Funeral Director with Office Administrative duties
- Assist Licensed Funeral Director with outside ordering for services
- Assist Licensed Funeral Director with Crematory Operations/Management
- Assist Licensed Funeral Director with phone coverage as necessary
- Assist Licensed Funeral Director with decedent embalming, preparation, dressing, casketing, calling hours and Funerals, etc. to the extent permitted by law for an apprentice
- Release urns, service materials, personal property and flags to families to the extent permitted by law for a non-licensed person
- Maintain a positive, caring and compassionate attitude with families that visit the facility
- Keep accurate records of Case vital statistics, Legal Forms, contracts and interact with families during arrangements
- Assist Licensed Funeral Director in charge with promotion of business
- Recruit and/or help train part-time unlicensed Funeral Home and Removal staff
- Perform Decedent removals / transfers of remains as necessary during normal office hours (Bonus paid for after hours removals and subject to pre-agreement on on-call scheduling)
- Answer calls in a timely fashion and respond to emails efficiently and timely
- Place obituaries for families in the newspaper, social media, and website
- Respond and attend to inquiries as required
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Preference to those enrolled in mortuary science program at an accredited school
- Must adhrere to professional dress code
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
