CATH LAB NURSE JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients: Review patient records, test results, and checklists, and initiate IV lines
- Administer medications: Give medications as needed
- Monitor patients: Document vital signs and assess the patient's condition
- Assist with imaging: Help with procedures that use imaging
- Respond to emergencies: Assist physicians during emergencies and adverse reactions
- Educate patients: Provide information and support before, during, and after procedures
Training and experience
- Cath lab nursing is an advanced specialty that requires more than basic nursing qualifications
- Traditional programs take at least four years of schooling, and you may also need critical care experience
- Healthcare facilities often prefer candidates with significant experience
