What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN- Radiation Oncology 8- hour Day shift OSF Saint Francis Medical Center position at Fidelity on Call LTD?
- Pay Rate: Rate may vary due to local or non-local contracted rates: $55-65 combined Rate of pay. (Pay packages are a combination of taxable hourly rates, tax free allowances for travel, housing, and meal allowances) (Rates are subject to change via client need)

1.General job duties. Types of procedures required.
- Assists patient care team with intake of outpatients into the department by orienting patient to room and introducing team personnel. Takes vital signs (e.g, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, etc.). Interviews patients to obtain health history, allergies, current use of medications, and documents findings. Assessing and tracking individual skin care needs, applying dressing, bandages, and compresses. Ambulating or transferring patients. Collecting and labeling lab specimens.
- Performs physical assessment of patients upon admission and according to protocol. Assesses and documents patients' physical, psychological and social needs. Reviews other available diagnostic data (e.g., laboratory values, radiology reports, transferring unit reports, etc.) and incorporates into assessment process. Identifies, communicates and documents significant physiological and behavioral findings. Contacts physicians to notify them of patient's admission.
- Administers prescribed medications orally and intramuscularly on rare occasion. Monitors patients' response to treatments, and therapies. If patients experience adverse reactions, contacts appropriate personnel for immediate follow-up or initiates emergency medical care (if required). Performing irrigations, suctioning airways, and changing tubing. Providing daily comfort to patients, giving enemas, inserting catheters, assisting patients in dressing, cleaning skin, etc.
- Assists physicians during outpatient procedures, as needed.
- Collaborates with physicians, Patient Care Team members, and other healthcare team disciplines to coordinate the delivery of care and monitor progress of patient. Communicates with Patient Care Team members all information related to patients' health.
- Evaluates patients' needs, contacts other healthcare professionals with expertise in various disciplines to provide discharge teaching. Teaches patients and/or family members self-care/home care techniques required to maintain activities of daily living or continued rehabilitation and healing.
2.Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
Computerized charting, automatic & manual blood pressure, oral & tympanic thermometer, automatic & manual weight scale, pulse oximeter, wall & tank oxygen, document scanner, and fax machine.
3.Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Patient assessment and documentation. 2 year's experience required with experience in radiation oncology preferred.
4.Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
Employee must have an active nurse license to practice in Illinois as well as a current CPR certification.
5.Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)

Training is done on-site and on-the-job. This is achieved with shadowing a nurse followed by hands-on assessing and documentation until comfortable with working alone. Another nurse is always available for assistance; usually in-person or at least by phone.
