The Phlebotomist will typically work from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Phlebotomist will not work more than 40 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
Provide Phlebotomy Services in a manner commensurate with the local community. Although not directly supervised, a physician on staff at the institution will review these services.
Qualifications
The Radiologic Technologist is expected to wear navy blue scrubs or professional attire (scrubs preferred). The clothing should also be appropriate for the correctional environment where the contract employee will perform.

- Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires, Fingerprints and
- Drug Screen.
- Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
- Estimate Pay: $24.19 - $29.02/hour.
- Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.
- Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.
- Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays
- Period of Performance: Base Year plus Four (4) Option Years.

Qualifications
- Must have completed the Phlebotomy training program as an approved state program.
- Be licensed as a Phlebotomist by the State of California.
- Must have at least one (1) or more years of experience.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Three (3) letters of reference.
- Copies of all certifications and resumes must be forwarded with your application.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the Physician, Advanced Practice Provider, and/or Nurse/ Paramedic with patient flow in a clinical setting by measuring the patients vital signs and weight, assisting with EKGs (if covered under licensure scope of practice), and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, essential blood draws, and specimen collection and processing within the Health Service Unit or open, semi-open, and locked units, including A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs, and PPD updates.
- Keep the work area neatly organized.
- Spin down blood, prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab, and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that lab requests are completed properly, all reports are returned from the contract lab, the provider is notified, results are logged in as received, follow up appropriately, and results are filed in the laboratory and the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Maintain the needle/syringe, security, accountability, and inventory.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
- Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in coordinating BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, equipment maintenance, including routine equipment checks, and notification of needed supplies.
- Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with inputting policies that deal with the laboratory program.
