Job Description: Principal Data Engineer The Role This role is a senior level position in the development team and will be responsible to guide and help design the technical solution. In addition to being a hands-on technology professional this role will closely collaborate with the squad and chapter lead to ensure the right solution while sharing accountability for delivery. Your Expertise Experience with Extract, Transform & Load and ELT development is required Strong Data modeling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical, 3nF, Dimensional) at both a project and enterprise level Data Modeling skills and experience with relational and dimension models is required Data Modeling Tool such as Powerdesigner, Oracle Designer or Erwin Experience with Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Snowflake Experience with CI/ CD and software version control Experience with reporting tools such as Tableau, OBIEE, Power BI, etc. is a plus Programming experience in Python, Java Ability to write SQL to query data (ideally ANSI SQL) General working knowledge of AI technologies, techniques, and trends The Skills You Bring Strong analytic skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Must be a great team player and able to work in highly collaborative environment Ability to explain Data structures to a non-technical audience Good interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing skills The Value You Deliver Partner with project teams, vendors, support organizations, functional architects, systems specialists, and other technical resources to bring together information requirements and deliver data modeling solutions for WI Business and technology functions Improve the overall analysis of business requirements and delivering well architected and efficient solutions Assist in developing guidelines and standards for the design checklist, governance process and for cataloging and maintaining data repositories Bring industry thought leadership to WI Technology Mentor junior data modelers The Team The team will be part of a larger chapter which is focused on delivering a state-of-the-art analytics platform. While the initiative is at the Fidelity enterprise level the squad will be focused on the Workplace Investing (WI) Business unit. Interaction between various product groups within WI and at times with other Fidelity business units will be required.
