Position Overview
A Business Consultant is responsible for helping funeral homes maintain and improve operations by providing professional expertise to current procedures. Their duties include reviewing financial statements, meeting with funeral home owners to identify goals and business needs and work closely with these owners to develop and oversee the implementation of specific goals.
The Business Consultant will be responsible for identifying and generating new leads, managing the existing accounts, and meeting potential clients. This dynamic position is well suited for an experienced professional with a proven track record of success selling accounting services to small and midsized companies preferably in the funeral home industry.
Essential Functions
- Creating in-depth reports and presentations on a business’s processes
- Meet with Clients to perform financial review
- Develop and implement an ongoing budget
- Developing detailed business plans
- Suggesting solutions to business problems
- Use promotional methods such as phone calls, emails and social media to reach potential clients and build a long-lasting business relationship with them.
- Become an expert in the funeral industry and serve as a go-to source for clients who want more information concerning their business trends.
- Establish and maintain healthy, long-term relationship with clients to generate repeat business and referrals.
Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Bachelor degree required, preferably in Accounting or other Business discipline
- 5 years of experience in the funeral industry, preferably as a funeral director or business owner; casket sales rep or pre-need insurance agent.
- Ability to travel extensively
- Ability to meet or exceed sales requirements
