What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2.4 Software Engineer: Human-Robot Interaction position at Field AI?
Field AI is transforming how robots interact with the real world. We are building risk-aware, reliable, and field-ready AI systems that address the most complex challenges in robotics, unlocking the full potential of embodied intelligence. We go beyond typical data-driven approaches or pure transformer-based architectures, and are charting a new course, with already-globally-deployed solutions delivering real-world results and rapidly improving models through real-field applications.
We’re looking for software engineers who are passionate about defining and evolving human-robot interaction with robots of all shapes and sizes. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with creativity, building real-world systems that make collaboration with our robot co-workers intuitive, effective, and fun. If you’ve been growing as both a developer and designer and taken on prior roles as a hybrid developer-designer, design technologist, or design developer, you’ll feel right at home.
If your career has led you down a path of defining the unknown, straddling both design and development, or working with applications that demand unwavering performance and robustness in chaotic conditions, you’re ready to dive into the challenges of the world of robotics.
\n- Utilize your eye for design to implement creative solutions for visualizing complex robotic systems, sensor data, and machine learning outputs
- Design and develop intuitive UIs (3D 2D) for telepresence that allow end users to control, monitor, manage and analyze individual robots and robot fleets
- Work closely with robotics engineers across various domains to own and create full end-to-end experiences and products for our users
- Optimize applications for responsiveness, reliability, and scalability, even in bandwidth or connectivity-constrained environments
- Explore new ways to make robots more approachable and usable to the general public
- Experience: 3 years in software development with a focus on robotics, human-autonomy interfaces, or interactive 3D applications
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or C , with experience in frameworks and libraries like React, NextJS, three.js, react-three-fiber, d3, WebGL
- Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System), WebSockets, and real-time data visualization processing
- Innovation: Excitement to explore lots of uncharted territory in the field of human-robot interaction with a penchant for iterative development and learning from failures
- User-Centric Mindset: A solid understanding of usability principles or user-centered design is a major plus
Compensation and Benefits
Our salary range is generous ($70,000 - $300,000 annual), but we take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary; base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Also, while we enjoy being together on-site, we are open to exploring a hybrid or remote option.
Why Join Field AI?
