What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chicago Green Ambassadors Internship for High School Students position at Field Museum?
Position Summary:
Chicago Green Ambassadors (CGA) Interns are Chicagoland-area high school students who will learn about community science initiatives while engaging with different communities, cultures, and local natural areas in Chicago. CGA Interns will take part in nature exploration activities while learning about environmental conservation, ecology, social science, and community engagement through hands-on field trips to natural areas. Interns will also take action on environmental issues and lead real research through observations and data collection. In addition, interns will have the opportunity to work with local community organizations and science professionals from the Field Museum.
- Salary of $17 per hour; 21 hours per week for 5 weeks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with the Youth and Family Centered Conservation (YFCC) team during the 2025 Summer (June 23 - July 25; 21 hours a week) to:
- Research and present a community action project that reflects environmental justice issues in a community, reflecting both group work as well as independent research.
- Demonstrate tactics to connect people to nature through community engagement.
- Participate in weekly workshops and community-centered conservation projects.
Minimum Education Required:
- One year of high school. A minor work permit is required for applicants 15 years of age and younger..
Minimum Experience Required:
- Experience participating in Chicago Green Ambassadors Program and/or affiliation with a partner organization is preferred but not required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Only high school students completing 9th 12th grades in Spring 2025 are eligible to apply.
- Interest in environmental conservation, community organizing, and/or green careers.
- The ability to work well in groups and take on leadership roles.
- Interest in implementing a research based action project.
