What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections Assistant I position at Field Museum?
Our Mission: Since the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, our organization has aimed to connect people to the natural environment and human history.
This position is a part time term position (six months) jointly aiding digitation and curation efforts across the Botanical Collections. The position is in direct synergy with large scale digitization efforts of flowering plants as well as bryophytes and lichens.
Responsibilities of the position include filing and refiling large quantities of flowering plant specimens in preparation for digitization, assisting in the bryophyte and lichen digitization project, curation of specimens, and databasing. Careful attention must be given to detail.
We expect that the part-time Collections Assistant will have a bachelor's degree and some experience in botany or collections work.
Digital photography experience preferable; databasing skills; Microsoft Office, especially Excel and spreadsheets; cooperative team and independent worker; previous collections experience, Museum or similar institution is preferable.
Pay: 18.00/hour
